BISQUE Desk/Home Workstation was named after the color “Bisque”, which was used for the desktop. The warm yellow color desktop makes people feel cozier and enjoyable while they working. The rest parts of the desk are in light grey color. The desk pieces are laminated Baltic Birch plywood with Formica® cut by CNC milling machine. The plywood pieces come with 3 different thicknesses, 1” for legs; ¾ ” for desktop; and ½ ” for the interlayer. The design choice was made for maximize the stability of the desk and reduce the overall weight of it. The cutting schedule was planned in a way to minimize the offcut from manufacturing. The desktop is in a symmetric trapezoid shape with rounded corners. In the ergonomic perspective, through the personal experience and observations,computer desk users' hands are intended to reach for things on the desk in a range of circle sector and the rounded corners could prevent certain injuries that may be caused by angled pointy corners, also it makes BISQUE more approachable. In addition, compare to the ordinary rectangular shaped desktop, BISQUE has more efficient in terms of utilizing the desktop surface room.The entire desk could be assembled by one person (preferred two people assemble it together) in only 5 pieces of plywood without any hardware or tools to assist. The flat package makes BISQUE desk easy to transport from the store to your home with most compact vehicles.
