The Design:
Chair Chairchill is designed based on the Fermob Bistro Chair. The new chair design for Sir Winston Churchill Square in the City of Edmonton is not completely a different look. Chairchill shares the resemblance of seat and back design, as well as a little twist. “Attitude is a little thing that makes a big difference.” Sir Winston Churchill once said. Chairchill kept some essences from the Bistro Chair, also stand out with its own uniqueness by the chair arm design, which makes it more acceptable while it replaces the Bistro Chair at the square. The arm of the chair creates a rhombus on the side view. The shape of rhombus is widely used in the architecture of the City Hall from inside out. The ribbon shape chair arm resembles the the architecture of the Art Gallery of Alberta, which is also located by the Churchill Square. The Chairchill armchair is an integration of geometric and organic shapes. The chair arm forms into a shape that can well support the arm with its flow, and the twists also leave the extra rooms for the body and legs.
